Video Of The Day: The Eternal Children

Here's a great documentary by David Kleijwegt on some musicians that I really dig, CocoRosie and Devendra Banhart. In the second video below, you'll notice Antony touch on the current music revolution of this decade that I constantly espouse.

CocoRosie Busted

The CocoRosie show I was very excited about at the Masquerade this Thursday has been cancelled because the band has been arrested. Here's the Myspace bulletin they posted:

"dear loves
we are so sorry to announce that we cannot play the rest of the us tour dates
the band got arrested, thats all i can say
we love you all
we are playing a free show in New York on may 19th
please come if you can
we are crying
say a prayer for our band
love
Sierra and Bianca
later..."

Well, this is a lame development.

What The Hell Am I Listening To?!?

CocoRosie : The Adventures Of Ghosthorse And Stilborn

This album has been pretty much trashed by most of the blogosphere (Pitchfork gave it a 2.3) but I really love it. I don't have a lot of familiarity with their previous albums (although that will soon change) but i really believe that Ghosthorse And Stillborn holds up to almost any record to come out this year. CocoRosie is two sisters doing indie-folk with a little opera and hip-hop thrown in. They both do vocals, and one plays alot of instruments and the other plays experimental percussion instruments like children's learning devices and gold chains. Check it out:

Low : Guns And Drums

I have been listening to many mediocre albums lately and Guns And Drums has been an exception. This Duluth, Minnesota trio has something really special here and I wish I would have gotten into this band earlier. Stylistically they feel like a stripped down indie rock outfit with very anthemetic songs, or "Slowcore" as they are known, and i will be delving deep into this band's catalog after hearing this great album. Give it a listen:

The Flaming Lips, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Wolfmother and more have made original tracks for the upcoming Spiderman 3 movie.

Bono is now a knight.

Sasquatch! Music Festival has added Clinic, Blackalicious, The Polyphonic Spree, and an extra Beastie Boys instrumental set plus many more acts. Check it out. Beastie Boys have a new album coming out this year.

Patti Smith is doing a covers album.

The new season of the Henry Rollins Show, starting next month, will feature live performances from The Mars Volta, The Stooges, and Ryan Adams and interviews with Marilyn Manson and Iggy Pop.

Black Eye Peas member Taboo got arrested for driving too high.

Tegan And Sara release their new album, The Con, in July.

The Smashing Pumpkins first performance will be in Paris. I'm kinda glad they will get their rust out overseas before (hopefully) playing a bunch of US dates.

Marilyn Manson and Slayer are going on tour together this summer. Marilyn Manson has new album out in June.

Korn and Evanescense are co-headlining this years helping of the Family Values Tour. Nu-metal will never die!!!

moe.down festival has added Ryan Adams and The Meat Puppets to their line-up. This fest held the August 30th-September 2nd in New York will also feature Medeski Martin and Wood and 6 sets from moe. over the weekend. 6 sets of moe. would make me mow down some wookies.

The Black Crowes are working on a new album.

The White Stripes have gotten creative with their marketing and created a puzzle about their new album:

Isaac Brock is not feeling the pressure of having the Billboard's #1 album.

Ratdog and Keller Williams will be at Chastain Park on July 7th.

The Preakness have a new 7" coming out.

Here's a new Trans Am video featuring former-The Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore acting:

Kevin Barnes is already working on another Of Montreal album.

Thurston Moore and Jim O'Rourke are collaberating with some others to form a noise-supergroup. Yaher!

Thurston Moore is working on a new solo album at J Mascis studio produced by John Agnello (Rather Ripped #16 of 2006). There's a video of Thurston performing one of the songs at SXSW here.

Brightblack Morning Light will be at the Earl April 23rd. Here's an MP3: Everybody Daylight

Arctic Monkeys and Be Your Own Pet will be at the Tabernacle on May 19th.

Ozzfest is building its line-up, and Atlanta's Daath is playing some dates among others.
