What up In The ATL?

It's Atlanta Superstar Week!

Wednesday night we got a big show for you. We've got two of Atlanta's biggest music icons, Preston Craig and Kenny Crucial (Mack Messiah), performing live. Plus some great up-and-coming bands like Morning State, The Pendletons, and Delta Co. On top of all that, it's to raise money for Atlanta's Refugee Community. Be there:



And that's not all kiddies. The Atlanta superstars are all over the place this week with a very exciting line-up Friday night at the Variety Playhouse. This town's greatest hipster bands, Black Lips, Deerhunter, Snowden, and The Selmanaires will all be on one stage together:



If for some weird reason you aren't into that show, GWAR will be at The Masquerade Friday night. Saturday night Atlanta superstar week continues with Anna Kramer opening for Southern Culture On The Skids at the Earl. Next Monday night you can choose between a Shannon Hoon-less Blind Melon at the Masquerade or seeing The Sword at the Earl.

Friday Free-Style

Late edition because I got uber-drunk last night dancing like a fool at East Side Lounge. I highly recommend you go there on a Thursday night and check out the Rare Form DJ Crew. Saturday night I'll be checking out the Jupiter Watts CD Release show at the Earl. Cable And Tweed has a good article on them complete with mp3s.

The Police are talking about maybe doing an album. This video should make you laugh:



Sebadoh is at the Variety Playhouse Sunday night. Read up.

Seattle's September festival Bumbershoot has announced a partial line-up including The Shins and The Wu-tang Clan. I have to say compared to the ba-jillion other festival line-ups this year its pretty weak.

Wilco will be in Atlanta at Chastain Amphitheatre on June 19th right after playing Bonnaroo. The new album, Sky Blue Sky, comes out May 14th and is all over the Internet right now. Low will be opening for them.

Keith Richards snorted his father.

Pearl Jam have officially confirmed they will be headlining Lollapalooza. Here's some videos:

Super Furry Animals have new album out in August.

TV On The Radio's Daivd Sitek is producing the new Massive Attack album.

Queens Of The Stonage new album is due out by July.

Perpetual Groove, The Whigs, and The Drive-By Truckers are headlining Athfest is Athens, Ga June 20th-24th. They will announce full line-up soon.

Man Man is touring with Modest Mouse and they will both be here on May 5 at the Masquerade.
