Langerado 2008 Day 3: Saturday

I got an early start on the music and checked out Blitzen Trapper first. I have had trouble getting into their new album, but for an afternoon festival live show, they were perfect. The country sounding stuff they do is not my flavour, but the psychedelic stuff they do is right up my alley.

Next up was The Bad Plus. The jazz trio jammed out some great music, including a jazz rendition of Rush's "Tom Sawyer" that was hilarious and awesome at the same time. The drummer totally floored me. He was incredible. The way he could switch between volumes on every single lick drumming so fast was something I hadn't seen done quite like that before. Also, he looked like he was having the time of his life playing their music.

After some blogging, I checked out Pnuma Trio for a little while. They were good, but I think they are much more fun to catch as a late night set.

Next I caught Ben Folds who did a solid show.

After a crucial recharge and refuel, I caught the end of the Medeski, Scofield, Martin, and Wood set, and it was great. There seemed to be way less people at the R.E.M. show than at the Beastie Boys headlining slot the night before. We were able to get a pretty decent spot just minutes before they went on. The show was good, they played a bunch of older songs that I love that I had forgotten existed. They did some newer stuff too, but I just can't seem to get into it.

Finally I made my way to Pelican, who ripped out a top notch set.

I think Dan Deacon canceled the fest, but it is entirely possible that I was too intoxicated after Pelican to know what happened. I was told that I caught the Disco Biscuits. I probably enjoyed it.

The weather got beautiful during the day and very cold at night. I've been having a blast so far, so it is time to stop all this blogging and live up the last day. I'll post the Day 4/Wrap-up after I return to the ATL for a brief moment before heading to SXSW.

Live Show: Pnuma Trio (6-8-06)

At Wakarusa last year I discovered that I really like LEDM (Live Electronic Dance Music). The first night there i caught this late night Pnuma Trio show and it was awesome. Fueled by jager and Fat Tire, I'm pretty sure I can make out my screaming on this recording. I'll be at Smith's Old Bar tommorrow night to get tanked, dance my ass off, and enjoy Pnuma Trio again. You should too.
