Friday Free-Style

Deerhunter is opening for a handful of Nine Inch Nails dates including the Atlanta show on August 13th at the Gwinnett Center Arena. That should be a pretty sweet show. Also, it appears that Deerhunter has found a replacement for Colin Mee.

Yo La Tengo is scoring a movie for Super Bad director Greg Mottola.

Roger Waters' flying pig took off during his performance and never came back. The remains of the pig were found later this week.

Shearwater will be at The Earl on June 13th.

Wolf Parade will be at The Variety Playhouse on July 28th.

There is this Girls Rock Camp going on at Eyedrum July 14th-19th.

Watch a new Kaki King video here.

Fleet Foxes will be at The Drunken Unicorn on July 5th.

Grizzly Bear has added some non-Radiohead-opening dates, the closest of which is in Nashville, TN on July 31st, and I'm thinking I may drive up there for that one.

Albert Hoffman, who discovered LSD, died this week.

Metalocalypse and Dethklok will be at The Tabernacle on July 2nd.

Times New Viking will be at The Earl on June 23rd.

Video of the Day: Patrick Watson

So I just stumbled on this video of Patrick Watson's The Great Escape. The pen and ink animations really fit the song beautifully. He's also the voice behind the track, To Build a Home by The Cinematic Orchestra if you are wondering where you've heard that Antony meets Chris Martin charm before.

What The Hell Am I Listening To?!?

Some international flavor for today:

The Cinematic Orchestra (UK)

This is a band that's name describes them perfectly. Their new album, Ma Fleur, is a really beautiful piece of work that I've been listening to constantly. It's amazing how much emotion and mood great music can evoke. Don't miss this one:

Justice (Paris, France)

This duo does rave-style dance music with the spirit of rock 'n' roll. I'm usually not the biggest fan of House music, but this album, Cross, is just too fun to ignore. If you want something to dance to, this is it:
